About Me
My name is Mrs. Joanne Kraft and I have been teaching for the Springfield School District for over 25 years. My first teaching job in Springfield was here at Riverside in 1980. I taught 8th grade math & Algebra in what is now the computer lab. I have also been a substitute teacher for area schools and a mathematics instructor for the Community College of Vermont. This fall, I will be teaching 6th, 7th & 8th grade math, skills and some fusion classes on Team Quest. I will also be the team liason. The other teachers on this team include: Mrs. Allen, Ms. Chenette, Ms. Ericson, Ms. Jennett & Mrs. MacKenzie. Mr. Weyer will be working with our students for the first semester. Ms Whittemore will be with us for the third term and Ms. Burt will be on Team Quest for the fourth quarter. Ms. Taylor and Ms. Vittuum will be our classroom aides. While I grew up here in Springfield, I was born in Massachusetts. After graduating from SHS, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics with minors in French, Psychology & Secondary Education from Houghton College. Later in 1988, I completed my Master's Degree in Education from Antioch New England Graduate School. Since then I have taken many graduate level classes from area colleges to maintain my Vermont teaching license. I graduated from Springfield High school in 1976. We were the first class to spend our entire 4 years at Springfield High School. Prior to that, students attended Riverside for grades 7, 8 & 9. My husband, Jim, also graduated from SHS in 1974 and our daughter graduated from SHS in 1999. My husband & I live in Springfield. We are currently in the middle of a new house building project. Our daughter has now settled in Pennsylvania. She is a librarian and her husband is a college wrestling coach. We try to spend much of our free time working on our new house and traveling to visit family and friends. |
