Welcome to SHS!

Welcome to Springfield High School, home of the Cosmos.  SHS is a NEASC accredited public high school.  At this time, we are working hard to implement recommendations from our recent NEASC report.

Additionally, we are working with the Vermont Department of Education to accomplish the required actions for schools identified in corrective action.  This is all very important work, as we strive to improve student performance.

SHS Theater Students Excel at Weston Playhouse Workshop

Weston Playhouse offered a workshop with a guest artist (playwright) for three days over roughly 6 weeks to work with a group of 7 students.  The program was called Vermont Young Playwrights.  Students were asked to craft a 10 minute play with 4 characters as their final.  5 schools participated; Rutland, Arlington, Black River, Proctor, and Springfield and 6 plays were chosen; 2 out of the 6 came from Springfield High School.

Those two were from Dmitri Freeman who wrote Ninja Dreams and Kiely Shuck who wrote Ruins.  An honorable mention went to Wanya Manning for her play Dead Skin on Trial.  Students chosen will have their scripts read during a mini Festival to celebrate The Vermont Young Playwrights in May at VItCA in Chester for friends, family, and fellow playwrights.
The four students who completed their plays will also be directing their piece or having a senior Theater student direct their show for the Theater Class final.  This will be open to the public for viewing on the evening of May 30th at 7pm in the SHS auditorium.
